Generates random API tokens, secrets, and one-time passwords with configurable length, character sets (uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols), and custom character pools. Displays entropy bits and charset size for security assessment.
Developers frequently need to generate secure random tokens for API keys, session identifiers, and authentication secrets. This tool provides cryptographically secure generation with full control over character composition and entropy measurement.
This tool is part of the DevStackIO platform — a collection of free online developer tools from DevStackIO. Browse more free developer resources on DevStackIO.
Backend developers generating API keys, DevOps engineers creating secrets, security professionals needing random tokens, and anyone who needs quick secure random strings.
Set the desired token length using the slider or number input (1-512)
Toggle character set checkboxes: uppercase (A-Z), lowercase (a-z), numbers (0-9), symbols
Enable 'Custom charset' and enter your own character pool for specialized needs
Set the count to generate multiple tokens at once (1-50)
Click 'Generate' to produce tokens; view entropy and charset size stats
Click 'Copy' on any individual token, or 'Copy All' when generating multiple
Input: Length=32, uppercase+lowercase+numbers, count=1. Output: 'aB3kL9xM2pQ7nR5sT1wY4jH8fG6dV' with 190 bits entropy.Input: Length=16, symbols only with custom charset '!@#$%', count=5. Output: Five 16-character strings using only those four symbols. How secure are the generated tokens?
The tool uses crypto.getRandomValues() which provides cryptographically secure randomness.
What does the entropy value mean? Entropy measures unpredictability in bits
higher is better. 128 bits is considered secure.
Can I use these for password reset tokens?
Yes, but ensure the length is sufficient (32+ chars) and the charset includes enough variety.
Why does custom charset override the symbol checkbox?
When custom charset is enabled, it replaces the default symbol set entirely.
