Computes mean (average), sample standard deviation, sample variance, sum, count, min, max, and range from a list of numbers. Paste a comma-, space-, or newline-separated list and get all metrics instantly.
Most spreadsheets, calculators, and online tools give you either the mean or the standard deviation — rarely all of them at once, with the right formulas. This one uses sample variance (n−1, Bessel's correction), which is what every introductory statistics textbook uses for a single sample. No data leaves your browser.

Edit the input to recompute; the parser handles up to several thousand numbers
Mean of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 → 3Std dev of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 → ~17.078Variance of 2, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 7, 9 → 4Mean of 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 → 300Range of 5, 12, 8, 20, 3 → 17 (max 20 − min 3)What formula is used for standard deviation?
Sample standard deviation: σ = sqrt(Σ(x - x̄)² / (n−1)). This is Bessel's correction and the default in textbooks and Excel's STDEV.S.
Why use sample variance and not population variance?
Because in practice you almost always have a sample of a larger population. The n−1 divisor unbiases the estimate. If you genuinely have the entire population, divide by n instead.
What happens if I enter text or non-numbers?
The parser silently skips them. The 'Parsed N numbers' counter shows how many valid values were extracted.
What is the maximum input size?
The parser handles thousands of numbers easily. For 10,000+ numbers, expect a brief render pause as the loop runs.
Can I get the median or mode?
Not in this calculator. The most common follow-up is to use a spreadsheet or a dedicated statistics package.
